Taking control of your eyebrows with anything other than tweezers can be a scary thought for some of us! That one-hair-at-a-time method seems safer… but does it really give the best result?
There are a number of benefits to waxing the eyebrows, like removing those tiny fine hairs that are hard to catch with tweezers but are enough to create a shadow (not to mention the mess they can make of your eye makeup!). Waxing can also minimise the risk of over-tweezing; you know, tweeze one hair from here and another from there and suddenly you have little dents in your brow line,
and nothing says dodgy at-home job like wonky, over-plucked brows.
Ok, so waxing might help you achieve lovelier brows, but what about the risk of waxing way too much hair from the brow area, so you end up looking more like a groom-to-be the morning after his bucks party than a woman in control of her fabulous brows?
So glad you asked!
Nad’s Hair Removal Precision Eyebrow Wax Wand is primed with our unique, water soluble Hair Removal Gel, the hair removal equivalent to an escape hatch! If you chicken out at the last minute, the Hair Removal Gel washes off with water. If it looks like you’re about to take off far too much brow, you simply wash the gel away and start again. No damage done.
Feel a little better?
So you’re in front of the mirror with the Eyebrow Shaper, what next? We asked Nad’s beauty expert (and the bearer of fabulously sculpted brows) Natalie Ismiel for her tips on waxing brows like a pro!
What are the key steps to take when waxing your brows to get the results you want?
Clean and dry the skin before you start. This is key for ensuring you get the best results with your eyebrow wax. Then follow the on-pack directions. Twist the wand until the gel oozes out (you only need a small pea size amount); apply a thin even layer following the direction of hair growth; place the backing strip over the wax, press firmly a few times and pull the strip off quickly in the opposite direction to the hair growth.
Remember the Nad’s strips are washable and reusable so wash them under warm water afterwards and let them dry for use next time.
Why does waxing give a better result than tweezing?
There is little chance of leaving hairs behind when using the Precision Eyebrow Wax Wand as all the hair is removed at once. Whereas, with tweezing you need to pull each hair out individually – this is not only more time consuming but painful too. There is also the chance of breaking the hair with tweezing as sometimes the hair does not come out by the root meaning re-growth is faster and not as long lasting as waxing.
What can you say to reassure those of us nervous about waxing our brows?
The beauty of the Nad’s Facial Wand Eyebrow Shaper is that it washes away with water; therefore if you have made a mistake and placed the gel in the wrong spot you can easily wash it off and start again. Unlike waxes, which require oils to remove the excess wax, you only need water with our Hair Removal Gel.
Another tip is keep it simple so simply follow the natural arch of your brow when waxing. Don’t try to create a new look or shape by yourself. When first starting off at home its best to aim to tidy up the stray hairs underneath your brow. This way it’s a less daunting process and the results are a sexy, clean, natural brow shape!
What are your ‘insider’ tips, the ones that aren’t listed on the box?
Finish the look after waxing by trimming your brows – brush up with a makeup brush and trim, then brush down and trim. Use a liner (the same colour as your brows) or brow filler to cover or fill any spaces to create an even, fuller brow look.
