Benefits on the Body Inside and Out from Pink Grapefruit and Pomegranate

Benefits on the Body Inside and Out from Pink Grapefruit and Pomegranate | Nad's Hair Removal Blog

Nad’s Ultra Smoothing Exfoliating Body Wax Strips smell divine thanks to extracts of pink grapefruit and pomegranate, but these blushing beauties do some seriously heavy lifting when it comes to health too.

Pink grapefruit

The gorgeous colour of pink grapefruit isn’t just decoration. Its ruby hue is the secret weapon that gives pink grapefruit its health-giving super powers.

The pigment responsible for pink grapefruit’s rosy shade is called lycopene, part of the carotenoid family. As an antioxidant, lycopene targets free radicals, menacing molecules that damage our cells. Studies have shown that lycopene can help protect against many types of cancer (hooray!).

But wait, there’s more! Lycopene is also believed to be good for your heart. The super hero antioxidant helps reduce bad cholesterol in the body and reduce blood pressure. Is there anything this little carotenoid can’t do?!

Two more reasons we heart pink grapefruit? It’s also high in fibre and vitamin C.

Pomegranates have been cultivated in the Middle East, South Asia and the Mediterranean for thousands of years. This ancient fruit’s fleshy exterior hides one of nature’s most spectacular surprises: the glistening crimson jewels, called arils, inside the pomegranate which encase its seeds.

Like pink grapefruit, pomegranate comes packed with nutrients including fibre and vitamin C. Not only does vitamin C keep the sniffles at bay, it’s another antioxidant that strengthens the immune system and prevents damage from free radicals (like wrinkles!).

Want to prepare pomegranate like a pro? Here’s how. To remove the arils, cut the pomegranate in half and massage its exterior. Hold the pomegranate above a bowl, cut side down. Next, whack firmly with a rolling pin, being careful not to hit your fingers. Squeeze the skin and continue to hit the fruit until all the arils fall into the bowl below, ready to beautify your next salad.
